What is Digital Manufacturing? Digital Manufacturing is a collective term that encompasses numerous technologies utilized to produce products from digital files. Examples of terms which we define as being various forms of digital manufacturing include 3D Printing, Additive Manufacturing, Rapid Prototyping, Rapid Manufacturing, Personal Manufacturing and Layered Manufacturing among others – all of which manufacture end products from a digital file using computer controlled devices in a primarily additive process – rather than subtractive processes typically utilized in traditional manufacturing (milling, machining, etc.).

Technologies currently being utilized for digital manufacturing include stereolithography, ink jet printing/deposition, selective laser sintering, fused deposition modeling, aerosol jet deposition, solid ground curing, laser engineered net shaping and ultrasonic consolidation among numerous others.

But Digital Manufacturing has many important aspects other than the “output technology,” such as design software, high powered computer capabilities, data and materials handling systems and much more. Why is Digital Manufacturing Important to You? Digital Manufacturing is being utilized in numerous industries including aerospace, automotive, biomedical (dentistry, prosthetics, tissue, etc.), composites, construction, consumer goods, energy, jewelry, machine tool, military/defense and many others. Manufacturers cite advantages and benefits such as the following for their implementation of Digital Manufacturing technologies:

the Saguaro Scottsdale & Scottsdale, Arizona Location

Acquired in early 2011 by The Sydell Group, the Saguaro Scottsdale has been fully renovated into a contextual resort, celebrating its convenient location in the center of Scottsdale adjacent to Old Town Scottsdale's central shopping & arts district and Civic Center Mall. Architects Peter Stamber and Paul Aferiat (known for their bold use of color) recreated the Saguaro around a palette of 12 vibrant tones found in native desert wildflowers in addition to better connecting the hotel to the public plaza next door.

The brilliant colors now adorn each balcony and patio and anchor the guestrooms, while also enlivening the indoor and outdoor public spaces. The color set follows the light spectrum, which in turn creates different perspectives of the hotel according to the time of day.

    Saguaro Scottsdale

The Sydell Group wanted the hotel to reflect the friendly hospitality for which Scottsdale is famous and accordingly tapped Joie de Vivre Hospitality of San Francisco, known for their super friendly and all welcoming hotels to oversee the property's operations. Sydell and Joie de Vivre oversaw all aspects of The Saguaro's physical renovation, including a transformed lobby, rooms (now featuring hand-crafted furniture imported from Mexico) and two heated pool areas. New lighting and carpeting for the indoor and outdoor corridors were installed, as were extensive landscaping and garden elements.

the Saguaro Scottsdale is the official spring training hotel for the San Francisco Giants and is located less than ½ mile from Scottsdale Stadium.

the Saguaro Scottsdale has received the following awards since completing its recent renovations:

  • Condé Nast "Hot List" 2012 - Editors' picks of world's best new hotels, restaurants and spas (featured on May 2012 Cover)
  • 2012 Trip Advisor "Certificate of Excellence" Award
